The roots of Andament Group go back to the 1960s, when Pentti Juola, an entrepreneur from Kalajoki, decided to expand his business from traditional agriculture to civil engineering. He began work with a bulldozer and grader, gaining a reputation as a skilled professional in his field. Inspired by the father, his children also found their own roles in running the family business early on. Juola’s wife Elsa also had an important role. She woke up at five in the morning to prepare lunch bags for her husband who had already gone to earthworks. After that she headed to work on the pig farm.

The interest in machinery of the family business led to many innovations, such as a self-developed road mill. Milling is the key word in Andament Group’s growth story. The Juola family grabbed many contracts from its larger competitors during a period that began in the early 1990s, and lasted a decade.

The name Andament Oy emerged in the beginning of 1994. The family business expanded to other civil engineering sectors around the turn of the millennium. Operations were expanded by seeking synergies through acquisitions and the establishment of subsidiaries focusing on special expertise.

In terms of ownership, a significant arrangement took place in 2019. At that time, the ownership of the family business was completely transferred to Jukka Juola, who represents the second generation of owners.
